- When the claim is paid
It may take a while, but most claims are settled without
the need for further negotiation. When you get the cheque,
you may be asked to sign a dated ‘discharge receipt’
or ‘satisfaction note’. If it says that
the payment is ‘in full and final settlement’
of your claim, add the words ‘so far’. Then
you will be able to make a further claim if you discover
more damage (from the same cause) later.
